Day 41

Valentine's day!

I don't really have a valentine.  I read something somewhere about how Valentine's day isn't just about who you love as in romantic love, but also other forms of appreciation - those people who are special within your life.  Well a lot of eating issues come from a person not loving themselves.  If you don't love yourself you won't take care of yourself and you always put others before you, but in actuality you have to take care of yourself first or eventually you won't be able to care for anyone.  So I decided today would be a self love day for valentine's day.  Now I didn't exactly eat perfectly - frankly, my food was very naughty - good but naughty.   But it was my day and I enjoyed myself and noted that this is not an everyday thing, its a today thing and then tomorrow we're right back to where we are on the journey.

So food today:

Breakfast: chocolate turnover/croissant.  They were supposed to become croissants, but someone (me) bought puff pastry shells instead of sheets.   Have you ever been at the store, seen both options and swear you note to yourself, I need one and not the other, and you still pick up the wrong one.  Well it happened to me.  It didn't turn out badly though.  I rolled the shells out to flatten them, stuffed them with half a square of ghiradelli semi sweet chocolate and folded them over.   I baked per directions after brushing with egg wash.  I think they came out pretty nicely.

Also had a glass of 1% milk with 2 T hershey syrup.

Lunch:  I didn't really have a lunch per say.  I didn't find myself overly hungry today.   I ate a bit of left over macaroni salad but just wasn't really hitting the spot so I stopped.  Then a little bit later I ate another one of the chocolate turnover things I made this morning.

Dinner: Fettuccine Alfredo with roasted broccoli.   I actually had 2 servings of the fettuccine (told you I was naughty today).  It was homemade - butter, cream, cheese and pepper.  Simple and delicious.  No leftovers.  The broccoli I just drizzle with a little olive oil, salt and apepper and roast in the oven.  Had this with 1 glass of rose zinfindel from barefoot winery

Dessert:  "Healthified" chocolate cake. This I got from Eat Better America's newsletter.  For being 150 calories for 1 slice (1/12th of the cake) it was pretty darn good.  Well actually, really good.  I served it with some sugar free whipped cream.  This recipe is also very easy to make.

Movement:

No official movement today, but lots of housework.  Finally took down the xmas tree (yes, i know its February, but its a 3 day weekend and first opportunity I've had).  Also cleaned kitchen thoroughly and went through house to pick up all the bits of trash here and there.   So I think all that counts for something.
