New goals

So I've got the working out thing pretty down pat - I'm running about 3 days a week, I get 1 day of weights - working towards 2 days a week and I get 1-2 days of rest. I'm gonna do a few sessions with a personal trainer - the person that I work with at the gym now. I'm going to do it instead of voice lessons. I want a little more variety and want to learn a bit more about it all. I got a pretty good book today by Women's Health which has some really great information. It breaks exercises into the major muscle groups and the main moves and then takes the basic move and gives you a ton of variations so you can keep things new. I just have to take some time to break it down and figure out how to arrange something for myself from the book.

Tonight I spoiled myself. Sushi, frozen yogurt with fresh fruit, coffee . The next couple of weeks I"m going to be pretty strict with "eating clean". There are 8 basic principles which are well, basic:
1. Eat six small meals a day. Eat every 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
2. Eat breakfast every day within an hour of rising
3. Eat a combination of lean protein and complex carbohydrates at every meal
4. Eat sufficient (2-3 servings) of healthy fats every day.
5. Drink 2 - 3 liters of water each day
6. Carry a cooler packed with Clean foods
7. Depend on fresh fruits and vegetables for fiber, vitamins, nutrients and enzymes. Limit your starchy complex carbohydrates to 2-4 servings each day
8. Adhere to proper portion sizes

I have a menu plan and scheduled meals planned out for the next week. The fridge is now stocked with the foods needed for the meals. It'll be a bit rough to start, but I think it will be good. I'm going to avoid eating out and eating sugar for the next couple of weeks, but I may eventually introduce frozen yogurt back in. (I am hooked on orange leaf frozen yogurt. It's a chain and they have a really good tart frozen yogurt and all sorts of fresh fruit I can put on it and its just dang good and low fat, though I'm not sure about sugar content). I might try to make my own frozen yogurt so I can control the sugar content and kind of sugar added. It's basically a matter of draining the yogurt, adding some sweetener and chilling before putting in the ice cream maker. I am still working on perfecting my own homemade yogurt as well.

Anyways, i really need to go to bed because tomorrow and this weekend will be a really rough couple of days as far as energy levels go as my body gets used to this new schedule.
