Other than that had a pretty decent day. I was really tempted this evening to go get a big, juicy, greasy burger either from Steak and Shake or Red Robin, but I resisted and came home. It was an accomplishment. There are days, like today, where I'm so tired, it just seems like it would be so much easier to pick up food, but really my dinner only took 15 minutes, maybe, to fix and it was good and probably slightly better for me. (Not totally, but better - no fries, no milkshake and less grease)
I signed up for the pound for pound challenge run by Eat Better America, The Biggest Loser and Feeding America. Basically you go, make a pledge to lose a set amount of pounds by June 30th and they will donate $0.14 for every pound to your local food pantry. It's a win win situation for everyone. I also have started logging information on our healthy habits website at work. It's a pretty neat site - you get to earn points and then turn them in for things like movie tickets and gift certificates to local stores or even other items like radios or fitness equipment. It's a really neat program - I think its open to everyone my company covers with health insurance, not just it's employees which makes it even better.
Oh and I know most people hear about the food pyramid and roll their eyes, but if you haven't been over and looked at it lately, you should. They did a major revamp with it and you can now personalize it to your needs and track your progress. Check it out!
Food:
Breakfast: (I ran out the door this morning and completely forgot my breakfast again but I made do) 1 container of Naked Juice Peach Mangosteen
Snack: 1 bag of organics natural flavor popcorn
Lunch: Curry chicken salad (Chicken breast from a rotisserie chicken, celery, raisins, cashews and green onion mixed with mayo - I think i want to try it with yogurt next time - curry powder, a little white wine and mango chutney - I used blackberry pepper conserves as I had no mango chutney and it worked great) on 2 slices of stone ground whole wheat bread with a handful of mixed greens. Followed up with a fun size 3 musketeers mint with dark chocolate.
Snack: (this was my bad moment - it was a chocolate day) 1 small box of godiva chocolate pretzles - horrible right, I mean good, but horrible.
Dinner: 2 eggs fried in 1/2 T butter on 2 slices of stone ground whole wheat bread spread with some earth balance spread and 1 grapefruit broiled.
Dessert - 2 easy sticky buns and 1 cup 1% milk
Exercise:
Today was not a hugely active day -
6 laps around the building - I forgot my pedometer today
biceps - 2 reps of 10 per arm
Triceps - 1 rep or 10
Shoulder presses - 2 reps of 10 per arm
1 flight of stairs up and 3 down
This actually reminds me - I know I didn't originally want to go back, but well I've started thinking about rejoining the gym in town. The use of the pool and the weight machines would be really nice. I have to see what my paycheck this next time will allow, but if it will I think I'm going to do it. Even if I use the gym just 3 times a week for the weights it would be well worth it.
