Day 1

A Journey of a thousand miles begins with one step...

So it all started today.  It actually wasn't too bad of a day - friggin' cold, but good.

Up at 6:10 am, remembered to grab my food stash I prepped last night and headed to work.  I had originally planned to work from home today, but I know changes are happening and figured that maybe it would be best to be in the office today.   And boy I did feel the stress right away - things piled up while I was out and had to play major catch up.  I usually eat breakfast right when I get to work, but it got slightly delayed.  I finally got a chance to buy some milk from the vending machine and had a bowl of cereal - Kashi Go Lean Crunch! Honey Almond Crunch.  At first I thought it would be a bit bland but after the first bite, there's a slight sweetness from the honey that's rather pleasant and it has a great texture that last from first bite to last.  I had 1 cup of the cereal with 1 cup of 2% milk.

I kind of forgot my goal of walking - or well rather I lost track of time as I got distracted with various things.  But around 9:30 I started feeling some hunger pangs but it was way too early for lunch.  I grabbed 2 satsumas out of the fridge and ate those.  (Satsuma: Its fruit is sweet and usually seedless, about the size of other mandarin oranges (Citrus reticulata), smaller than an orange.)  They grow rampant in Louisiana around winter so when I was home, i picked up a couple of bags - they are hard to find outside of the states around Louisiana.  I did finally remember to take a building walk at 10 - and it was a nice break and stretch from doing all of my catch up work.

I ate lunch at 11 - Healthy Choice Fresh Mixers Sweet and Sour Chicken.   This week was not a week to plan for left overs, so I had grabbed a few of these from the supermarket on Monday.  There are only 2 varieties I really like but they will do in a pinch.   To follow up I had 3 vanilla cranberry almond crunch from True North snacks.

I ate a mid afternoon snack at 2 pm of 2 lightly salted rice cakes with french onion laughing cow cheese light (2 wedges).  I ended up taking another walk sometime around 3 pm - this was a high stress point for me, after finding out about a major assignment due to start Monday - only 2 and a half days for too much planning.  Fun times.

As work was coming to a close, i did feel better as I'd gotten just about everything caught up - much better then I thought I would.  And things were good overall - at least on my side of the wall.  I did decide to have one last small snack at 3:45 pm - a container or Del Monte no sugar added mandarin oranges.  4:15 and homeward bound (Hallelujah!!) - got home and immediately begin cooking dinner or prepping.   Dinner was done by 5:30 - piece of steak tenderloin (pan seared in a pan lightly sprayed with olive oil and finished in the oven), 1 cup of broccoli (tossed with 1 tsp olive oil and roasted in oven) and 1/2 a sweet potato with 1/2 T of butter.

Overall it wasn't too bad of a day - I finished it off at 8 with a salted caramel.  (Pictures of food below in eaten order).   I stuck with water all day which was a good start.  I didn't really do any working out outside of the walking at work.  I did set  up my Wii in the living room and plugged in the chargers so they will be ready to go tomorrow!  I will be bringing my 5 lb weight to work tomorrow and will start that aspect as well.   I have avoided eating when bored for the most part - and I've done well avoiding the candy jar left on my desk as an xmas present - now there for others to enjoy, even in my stressful moments.

So not too bad of a start, now to keep it going.
